They composed these "anthemic" and "instructional" songs for the population enabling isolated and illiterate "campesinos" to participate in the activities of their own liberation from the Somoza dictatorship. These songs helped coordinate the insurrection's campaign to connect and encourage the many revolutionary groups in Nicaragua.
