Ninotchka Rosca is a renowned feminist, political prisoner and human rights activist. This is a recording of a lecture she gave in 1994 about the disastrous effects of trafficking women throughout the globe as well as the connection between the military and commercial sexual slavery. Her discussion focuses on women who are exported from Thailand and the Philippines including the history of exporting women, widespread diseases, the targeted exploitation of young girls, the connection to the exportation of domestic servants, and mail-order brides. Representatives from Chiapas spoke about the land issues between the Mexican government and the indigenous people as a result of NAFTA and Article 27 of Mexico's Constitution. The Ecuadorian representatives focused on the exploitation of the Amazon Rainforest and it's negative effects on their people. In both counties, the indigenous people are frustrated because they are not included in these land decisions that have social, environmental and economic impact on their communities.
