The MultiCultural Center presents:

COINTELPRO 101
A film screening and followed by discussion with filmmaker

Wednesday, May 18, 2011
6 PM
MultiCultural Center Theater, UCSB

This award-winning documentary reveals the workings of the government
to undermine struggles for justice. COINTELPRO was both a formal
program of the FBI and a term used to describe a conspiracy among
local, state, and federal governments to destroy movements for
self-determination and liberation for Black, Chicano, Asian, and
Indigenous communities as well as mount an institutional attack
against allies of these movements. It represents the state's
strategy to prevent movements and communities from overturning White
supremacy and creating racial justice.

Winner, Best Documentary, North Carolina Black Film Festival, March 2011.

Discussion with director Claude Marks and former Black Panther Hank Jones.

Co-sponsored by the Department of Asian American Studies, and
KCSB. For more information, contact 805.893.8411.
