Fuerzas Armadas de Liberacion Nacional (FALN)
The Fuerzas Armadas de Liberacion Nacional (Armed Forces
for National Liberation) -FALN- was an anti-colonial and anti-imperialist
clandestine organization based in the diaspora using armed propaganda to advocate for Puerto
Rican independence.
This collection contains a variety of materials by and pertaining to the FALN, its activities and the eleven Puerto Rican political prisoners captured in the early 1980s. In addition to background information and various news clippings, this collection features a number of writings, biographies, poems, and statements from the eleven captured POWs as well as solidarity statements and letters of support. The collection also features FALN communiques, legal background as to the imprisonment of alleged FALN members and a full application, agenda and planning materials for a seminar on terrorism for security forces and the prosecutor's office in Puerto Rico dated 1978.
