What follows is a fantasy of workplace liberation\, flexible scheduling\, childcare support\, and a boss finally getting what he deserves. \nDirectly inspired by the real life organization 9to5\, founded in Boston in 1973 by women office workers organizing against workplace discrimination and harassment\, the film smuggled radical ideas of labor\, gender\, and power into mainstream culture and became a classic in the process. \nFifty years later\, pay disparities\, workplace discrimination\, and the fight for childcare and a living wage remain daily realities and the intersection of racism and sexism in the workplace remains as urgent as ever for women\, people of color\, non-binary people\, and low-income workers. \nAbout this Political Education Series:\nWhen We Win: Political Education Film Series spotlights people’s struggles for liberation\, decolonization\, and the world to come. Each screening includes political education with facilitation\, interactive discussions\, and conversations featuring remarks from filmmakers and/or organizers active in peoples’ movements for liberation and justice. \n\nLearn more about upcoming film screenings at Lapena.info/we-win\nPresented by La Peña Cultural Center\, Center for Political Education\, and Freedom Archives.\n\nAccessibility:\n\nLa Peña is a wheelchair-accessible venue with step-less entry\, wide doorways\, and accessible restrooms.\nRestrooms are all-gender.\nMasks are strongly encouraged.
