</a>HARTFORD, Conn. - A federal detainment hearing for an alleged Puerto
Rican militant charged in a 1983 armored car depot robbery has been
continued to Tuesday.<br>
Avelino Gonzalez-Claudio was one of more than a dozen alleged members of
the Puerto Rican nationalist group Los Macheteros who authorities say
planned and carried out the $7 million heist at the Wells Fargo depot in
West Hartford.<br><br>
He pleaded not guilty in February to 15 federal charges including robbery
and conspiracy.<br>
Prosecutors argued Monday that the 65-year-old Gonzalez be held without
bail because of a violent past. They say a search of his home has turned
up instructions for making bombs and other weapons literature. They also
allege his fingerprints were on a rocket casing outside a 1985 bombing of
a courthouse in Puerto Rico.<br>

But Gonzalez' attorney says the government has not proven his client
committed violent acts.<br>
Federal Magistrate Judge Thomas Smith heard about 90 minutes of arguments
before adjourning for the day.<br><br>
