</a>Organizaciones del movimiento independentista en la Isla <br>
anunciaron, ayer, una manifestación en repudio a la citación de
<br>
tres jóvenes independentistas a comparecer ante el Gran Jurado en
<br>
Nueva York.<br><br>
La protesta, donde participarán sobre 20 organizaciones, se <br>
celebrará el próximo jueves 10 de enero a las 5:00 p.m. frente al
<br>
Tribunal federal en Hato Rey con la consigna "Ante la
represión, <br>
unidad y lucha". El viernes 11 de enero organizaciones en
Estados <br>
Unidos realizarán manifestaciones en Nueva York, Filadelfia, <br>
Boston, Cleveland, Los Angeles, San Francisco y Orlando.<br><br>
"Es evidente que si bien es cierto que es una investigación
contra <br>
el Ejército Popular Boricua Los Macheteros, confirma que es una
<br>
investigación producto de una campaña de represión contra los <br>
movimientos independentistas", dijo el coordinador de la <br>
manifestación, Michael González.<br><br>
Asimismo, el copresidente del Movimiento Independentista Nacional
<br>
Hostosiano (MINH), Julio Muriente, insistió en que la citación de
<br>
estos jóvenes tiene la intención de atentar contra el movimiento
<br>
independentista y el pueblo de Puerto Rico. Destacó que es un <br>
atentado contra un "movimiento político, social y
patriótico".<br><br>
Por su parte, el comisionado electoral del Partido Independentista
<br>
Puertorriqueño (PIP), Juan Dalmau, indicó que no hay duda de que se
<br>
trata de otra ofensiva antiindependentista por parte del FBI para
<br>
tratar de demostrar que el movimiento independentista es uno <br>
terrorista.<br><br>
"Solidaridad y apoyo a los compañeros que están siendo hostigado
y <br>
que están siendo arrinconados por parte del Gobierno de Estados
<br>
Unidos. Nosotros participaremos de la manifestación y allí haremos
<br>
una movilización de nuestra militancia precisamente para manifestar
<br>
este apoyo", expresó Dalmau.<br><br>
Las organizaciones indicaron que la postura que mantendrán con el
<br>
FBI es de no colaboración por lo que le han dejado saber a los tres
<br>
jóvenes que no den información, identifiquen personas y presenten
<br>
evidencia.<br><br>
Los tres jóvenes citados son Christopher Torres, Tania Fronteras y
<br>
Julio Antonio Pabón. Torres, quien es un trabajador social de 31
<br>
años graduado del Hunter Collage, ha trabajado brindando ayuda a
<br>
deambulantes y buscando hogar para niños y niñas que no tienen
<br>
padres. Fronteras nació y se crió en Puerto Rico y es una <br>
diseñadora gráfica de 30 años graduada de New York University.

Pabón, por su parte, trabaja como cineasta para una empresa europea
<br>
de películas y vídeos.<br>

</a>Independentist movement organizations on the Island announced
<br>
yesterday a demonstration in repudiation of the subpoenas of three
<br>
young independentists to appear before the Grand Jury in New
York.<br><br>
The protest, where over 20 organizations will participate, will
<br>
take place next Thursday, January 20, at 5:00 p.m. in front of the
<br>
federal court in Hato Rey, with the slogan, “In the face of <br>
repression, unity and struggle.” Friday, January 11, organizations
<br>
in the United States will convene demonstrations in New York, <br>
Philadelphia, Boston, Cleveland, Los Angeles, San Francisco and
<br>
Orlando.<br><br>
“It’s evident that if indeed it is true that this is an <br>
investigation of the Popular Boricua ArmyMacheteros, it confirms
<br>
that it’s a product of a campaign of repression against <br>
independence movements,” said Michael González, coordinator of the
<br>
demonstration.<br><br>
In the same vain, Julio Muriente, co-chair of the National Hostos
<br>
Independentist Movement (MINH), insisted that the subpoena of these
<br>
three young people is intended as an attack on the independence
<br>
movement and the people of Puerto Rico, pointing out that it is an
<br>
attack on “a political, social, patriotic movement.”<br><br>
Juan Dalmau, electoral commissioner of the Puerto Rican <br>
Independence Party (PIP), stated that there is no doubt that this
<br>
is about another anti-independentist offensive by the FBI to try to
<br>
demonstrate that the independence movement is a terrorist
movement.<br><br>
“Solidarity and support for the compañeros who are being harassed
<br>
and cornered by the government of the United States. We will <br>
participate in the demonstration and will mobilize our membership
<br>
to show this support,” expressed Dalmau.<br><br>
The organizations indicated that they will maintain the posture of
<br>
non-collaboration with the FBI, which they have communicated to the
<br>
three youth, of refusing to give information, identify others, or
<br>
provide evidence.<br><br>
The three young people cited are Christopher Torres, Tania <br>
Fronteras and Julio Antonio Pabón. Torres, a 31 year old social
<br>
worker and graduate of Hunter College, has worked providing support
<br>
to homeless people and seeking homes for orphans. Fronteras was
<br>
born and raised in Puerto Rico and is a 30 year old graphic <br>
designer and graduate of New York University. Pabón works as a
<br>
filmmaker for a European film and video business.<br><br>
