Feb 6, 2007 marks the 31st anniversary of Leonard Peltier's arrest

Canada, which later led to his illegal extradition to the United
States<br>
using coerced and fraudulent testimony. THIRTY ONE YEARS later,
Leonard<br>
Peltier remains in prison, even though the Eight Circuit Court of
Appeals<br>
ruled "There is a possibility that the jury would have acquitted
Leonard<br>
Peltier had the record and data improperly withheld from the defense
been<br>
available to him in order to better exploit and reinforce the<br>
inconsistencies casting strong doubts upon the governments case ."
Yet the<br>
Court denied Mr. Peltier a new trial. Leonard Peltier remains in
prison.<br>

LPDC LEONARD PELTIER CD: <br>
The Leonard Peltier Defense Committee (LPDC) has begun work on a new
tribute<br>
to Leonard Peltier, a Leonard Peltier compilation CD.<br>
This CD will be very much like the "Songs for Leonard Peltier"
album which<br>
came out several years ago, and included music from renowned artists
like<br>
Jim Page, Bruce Cockburn, Joanne Shenandoah, Mitch Walking Elk, and
Buffy<br>
Sainte-Marie. The LPDC is looking for songs particularly and
specifically<br>
about Leonard or about the general state of Native America but that
include<br>
Leonard. They have set a deadline of February 6th, 2007 (the anniversary
of<br>
Leonard's arrest) for submission of music. All songs need to be
submitted<br>
via MP3 and with lyrics to: <br><br>

on Tuesday 6th February in San Jose, to honor him on his 31st year

wrongful incarceration.<br><br>
This documentary was produced by Suzie Baer and has lots of footage
of<br>
Leonard, some before he was arrested. There is also footage of Dino
Butler,<br>
Robert Robideau and others. It is an excellent documentary and covers a
few<br>
decades of the ongoing struggle for self-determination and an end to
the<br>
theft of native land by Native people here in this country.<br><br>
