Cop killer`s name to be erased from sign<br>

NEW YORK, NY, United States (UPI) -- The head of the City University of
New York says the City College must remove the names of two fugitives
from a student clubroom.<br><br>
Chancellor Matthew Goldstein ordered the president of City College to
remove an unauthorized sign calling the room the 'Guillermo
Morales/Assata Shakur Community and Student Center,' the New Daily News
reported.<br><br>
Shakur, previously known as Joanne Chesimard, was convicted in the 1973
murder of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster. The Daily News said
Morales built bombs for a Puerto Rican terrorist group in New
York.<br><br>
Shakur and Morales escaped from custody and are federal fugitives living
in Cuba, the newspaper said.<br><br>
The sign has been above the student center since 1989, but it escaped the
notice of officials until a student complained to the Daily
News.<br><br>
Goldstein said the sign was never approved by school trustees.<br><br>
