In my original statement of criticism of the Millions
More Movemnet, I mistakenly said that Pam Africa had given a tape by
Mumia to be played at the rally to Attorney Malik Shabazz.. That was a
gross misstatement, the product of faulty checking of my facts. <br>
After finally speaking with Pam herself, it is clear
that she gave no tape to Malik. This Updated Criticism of MMM corrects my
error. I co py here the relevant portiion of this updated criticism of
MMM by editor of Nation Time.<br>

"Pam Africa's anger at the treatment of Mumia Abu-Jamal knows no
bounds.<br>
Sister Pam tells us that at Minister Farrakhan's request, she arranged
for<br>
the minister to visit Mumia Abu-Jamal. At the last 15 minutes of the<br>
visit, Sister Pam joined the minister and Mumia.<br><br>
Minister Farakhan requested Mumia to do a 15 to 20 minute commentary
for<br>
inclusion at the MMM rally. Although he assured Mumia that he would
speak<br>
of his case in his address to the rally, the minister also asked Mumia
to<br>
choose someone to represent him at the rally. Mumia of course chose
Sister<br>
Pam.<br><br>
Knowing full well that a 15 minute time allotment was extremely
unlikely<br>
at so massive a rally as the MMM, Mumia prepared a 5 minute commentary
for<br>
presentation at the MMM. Sister Pam received the tape and she gave it
to<br>
Brother Akbar, telling him that Minister Farrakhan had requested it
and<br>
had said it would be played at the rally. However, the tape was
never<br>
played.<br><br>
Millions of people would have been energized by hearing from Mumia,
who<br>
remains on Death Row in Pennsylvania while the people struggle to gain
his<br>
freedom. Playing Mumia's tape would have served notice to the u.s.<br>
government that Mumia's powerful voice and spirit will not be
silenced.<br><br>
But Mumia's commentary was never played for the people to hear.
Instead,<br>
the program organizers kept Mumia mute. Silencing the brother was one
of<br>
the greater sins of the day."<br>
<br>
My apologies to Pam and any and all who have been misled by my
error.<br>
