RAMALLAH, (PIC)
Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continue escalating their targeting of
freed Palestinian prisoners released under recent exchange deals, through
repeated arrest campaigns, field interrogations, and ongoing questioning,
in what appears to be a sustained policy of post-release persecution.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said in a statement on Tuesday that
among the latest detainees are several freed prisoners from Qalqilya,
including Sameh Al-Shobaki, Ammar Al-Shobaki, Saeed Dhiab, Saed Al-Fayed,
and Hadi Jadou.
The PPS described these arrests as part of a systematic policy, adding that
such measures constitute a new violation of the terms of exchange
agreements and send a clear message to released prisoners that they will
remain subject to continuous targeting and surveillance, even after gaining
their freedom.
According to the PPS, based on daily documentation, around 100 freed
prisoners have been re-arrested since the exchange deals that followed the
latest war on Gaza, noting that some individuals have been detained more
than once.
The PPS also pointed out that occupation authorities have reinforced this
approach through military orders and legislation that provide broader legal
cover to pursue former detainees.
It stressed that violations have not been limited to post-release measures,
but have also included physical assaults and threats against prisoners and
their families both before and after their release.
Meanwhile, the Asra Media Office reported that a total of 3,985 Palestinian
prisoners were released under the “Flood of the Free” exchange deal,
carried out in three phases between 2023 and 2025, marking one of the
largest prisoner exchange agreements in the history of the conflict.
