Palestinian factions warn ‘Israel’ over punitive measures against
prisoners in jails
October 14, 2021 - https://qudsnen.co/?p=30385
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Palestinian factions have expressed their support
on Thursday to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad prisoners who entered today a
second day of a hunger strike in protest against the punitive and
repressive measures taken by the Israeli prisons’ administration.
Zaher Jabarin, a Hamas official responsible for prisoner affairs, stated on
Thursday that the prisoner movement was managing the fight against the
Israeli prison administration as a unified front and would not allow the
singling out of any prisoner from any faction.
Jabarin added that the resistance is fully prepared and at the ready to
defend them.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Deputy
Secretary-General Abu Ahmed Fouad also stated on Thursday that the PFLP is
“ready to put all its capabilities into the field in support of the
prisoners.”
Over 150 Palestinian Islamic Jihad prisoners in Israeli jails have started
an open-ended hunger strike on Wednesday in protest against the Israel’s
repressive measures against them.
On Thursday, the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Palestinian Islamic
Jihad, announced a general mobilization <https://qudsnen.co/?p=30380> among
its forces and warned that its patience would not last and that it would
remain in a state of general alert to defend the prisoners and support
their escalatory steps, no matter the cost.
The movement stressed that the decision to launch the hunger strike
<https://qudsnen.co/?p=30284&> came after a month and a half of
negotiations with the Israel Prison Service and Shin Bet (Israel Security
Service) in order to remove the punitive measures and return the detention
conditions to what they were before September 6, among other demands.
The punitive measures include isolation, distribution of prisoners to
separate rooms, repression, abuse, and arbitrary transfers.
Such tensions came after the heroic act of six Palestinian prisoners who
managed to free themselves on September 6 2021, from Gilbou prison, a
high-security Israeli prison, through a secret tunnel they had reportedly
dug beneath the prison.
Four of the six breakers were rearrested by the Israeli occupation on
September 11, after five days of large-scale sweep operations throughout
occupied Palestine using high-tech systems and the two others were
rearrested on September 19, after 13 days of sweep operations.
Moreover, five Palestinian prisoners <https://qudsnen.co/?p=30279&> in
Israeli jails continue their open hunger strike in protest
<https://qudsnen.co/?p=30359> against their unfair administrative detention
without a charge or trial by the Israeli occupation authorities:
•Kayed Fasfous <https://qudsnen.co/?p=30374>(92 days of hunger strike)
•Alaa Al-A’raj (68 days of hunger strike)
•Miqdad Qawasmi (85 days of hunger strike)
•Hisham abu Hawash (59 days of hunger strike)
•Shadi abu Akaer (51 days of hunger strike)
There are 4,650 Palestinian political prisoners held in Israeli jails,
among the prisoners are 520 administrative detainees held without charge or
trial, 200 child prisoners and 39 female prisoners.
