*Parole Support Letters for Judy Clark (#83-G-0313) in NY State*

Many of you may have heard that Judy Clark, imprisoned for over 35 years
for participation in the 1981 Brinks robbery in Nyack , NY, was granted
a conditional clemency by New York State Gov. Cuomo. The Gov. reduced
Judy's sentence from 75 to Life to 35 to Life, making her eligible to go
to Board in 2017. Below is a message from Judy's legal team asking for
letters of support to be sent to the Board.

Judy was a long time political activist, anti-war, anti-racist,
anti-imperialist work. Since being in prison, Judy has helped to: start
the first AIDS education, advocacy and support group (ACE) along with
co-defendant Kathy Boudin; initiated a parent-child center so kids who
are visiting had toys and a place to play; pushed for --and won-- a
parent-child program so that pregnant women could keep their newborns
with them in a special unit in the prison for the first year of life;
got her college degree; participates in the puppy program; and in a
writing and theater programs.

During the 1981 Brinks robbery, two policeman and a Brinks guard were
killed, which Judy has expressed tremendous remorse for the lives lost.
Judy's daughter, Harriet, who now lives and works here in the Bay Area,
was only a year old when her mom went to prison. Earlier clemency
appeals have been vigorously opposed by police and guards unions. In
2016, Gov. Cuomo was visiting Bedford Hills Prison and asked to have
a meeting with Judy. After that meeting and much reflection, the Gov.
decided to commute her sentence.

Now Judy needs letters of support sent to the NY State Parole Board.

Governor Cuomo granted Judy’s clemency application and commuted her
sentence thereby making her eligible for parole. As we wait to learn
the exact date of Judy’s parole hearing, it is a very good time to send
letters of support to the Parole Board. The Board will want to know
about Judy's transformation, remorse and accomplishments. Please be as
succinct as possible.

Letters should be sent to the New York State Board of Parole at the
address below. The letter itself should begin with “Dear Commissioners
of the Board of Parole.”
