Revolutionary Greetings
Members of the Hostos Grand Jury Resistance Campaign

We hope everyone has had some sort of summer recess to rejuvenate and to
face the challenges ahead.

NEWS BRIEF:

A sixth person has been subpoenaed to appear on September 26, 2008 at 10:00
am to the federal grand jury convened in Brooklyn, NY investigating the
Puerto Rican independence movement. This subpoena is issued after the
commemoration of the "Grito de Lares" held every year in Puerto Rico and
three years after the assassination of Comandante Filiberto Ojeda Rios.

Carmelo Ruiz Villanueva is a 56 year old worker and long term Puerto Rican
independentista from Aguada, PR who has been residing at Brentwood, Long
Island, NY. This week he was visited by the FBI asking questions about
pro-independence activists and was shown pictures. He refused to answer
questions and was served a subpoena to appear before the Brooklyn Federal
Court on September 26th. He too has taken the political position of
non-collaboration.

The Hostos Grand Jury Resistance Campaign calls on all its members for an
emergency meeting on Friday, August 29 at 6:00 pm at the Action Center, 55
West 17th Street 5th floor to discuss the details of this case with
Carmelo.
