[Ppnews] Support Fred Muhammad Burton in Philadelphia 3/26

Fred Muhammad Burton has been falsely imprisoned for 35 years. Fred 
was convicted in 1972 for the murder of a Philadelphia policeman, the 
result of the August 29th,1970 attack on the Cobbs Creek Park police 
station by the Black Unity Council, a Philadelphia based 
revolutionary organization.  Fred's conviction was based solely on 
the coerced and false testimony of Marie Williams, the wife of Fred's 
co-defendant, Hugh Williams. Marie Williams stated in a letter to the 
court that her testimony was given under extreme duress, a result of 
her being interrogated for 19 hours by Philadelphia homicide 
detectives. At the time of her interrogation, Marie Williams was 
pregnant and was given only an egg sandwich and coffee during this 19 
hour period of time. These detectives threatened her husband, Hugh 
with the death penalty, unless she sign a statement implicating Fred 
in the conspiracy to attack and kill Philadelphia cops. This coerced 
testimony was hidden from the jury by the Philadelphia District 
Attorney during Fred's trial. Marie William's letter refuting her 
singed statement implicating  Fred was only discovered in 2003.

Fred's lawyer will be filing a brief on Monday March 26th at the 
Superior Court of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. His Attorney, 
Jonathan Gettleman said it is important to create some publicity 
around the filing of the brief , to ensure the courts interest in 
reading the brief which the hopeful result will be  in them granting 
a hearing based on the merits of the brief.

WE ARE ASKING PEOPLE TO BE AT THE SUPERIOR COURT, 530 WALNUT STREET 
AT 8:15 AM ON MONDAY MARCH 26TH WHEN FRED'S LAWYER FILES THE BRIEF.


We are also asking people to write a letter WITHIN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS 
to the Superior Court asking for the following:

1.ask that the court read the brief
2.grant Frederick Burton a hearing based on the merits of the brief
3.ask the court to instruct the District Attorney's office to release 
all evidence in the case
