The National Lawyers Guild and attorneys with Oakland-based Siegel & Yee
have filed a motion to quash a federal grand jury subpoena seeking
information related to a 2005 demonstration. The hearing on the matter
will take place Thursday, March 30th at 10 a.m. in Federal District Court
in San Francisco, in Grand Jury Room B on the 15th floor of the Federal
Building, 450 Golden Gate Ave, and is open to the public.

Independent journalist and educator Josh Wolf has been subpoenaed to
provide testimony and raw video footage related to the San Francisco
demonstration which took place in July, 2005. Mr. Wolf and his attorneys
are asking Magistrate Judge Maria Elena James to quash the subpoena on
several bases, including that Mr. Wolf is a member of the media, and that
the federal government is abusing its grand jury powers to gather
information on political protest activity and to improperly provide
information for an already ongoing local, San Francisco Superior Court
prosecution.

A press conference will immediately precede the March 30th hearing at 9
a.m. on the steps in front of the San Francisco Federal Building (450
Golden Gate). A full press release and background information will be
available at the press conference.
