Currently, two Russian oil tankers are heading to the Caribbean country.

The U.S. Treasury Department excluded Cuba from the measure lifting
restrictions on Russian oil stranded at sea, as the island faces one of
its worst energy crises, exacerbated by Washington’s oil blockade.
Currently, two Russian tankers are heading to the Caribbean nation.

The license from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
explicitly prohibits the sale, delivery, or unloading of crude oil or
petroleum products of Russian origin to Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Crimea,
and the eastern Ukrainian territories under pro-Russian control.

This relaxation of restrictions for the remaining countries will be
in effect until April 11 and covers crude oil already loaded onto ships
on or before March 12, without covering subsequent shipments.

The measure does not legalize new Russian shipments, but rather
allows for the release of cargoes that were already at sea when the
license was approved, according to the official document.

The action seeks to stabilize markets amid the trade war launched by
Washington and Israel against Iran and the disruption of traffic through
the Strait of Hormuz.

Text reads, “According to a U.S. media poll, nearly half
(46%) of Americans disapprove, to varying degrees, of the current U.S.
government policy of blocking oil shipments to Cuba from other
countries, compared to 28% who approve. Unlike their government and the
warmongers who run it, Americans perceive the inhumane and criminal
nature of a measure that punishes an entire people, violating their
right to self-determination, development, and free trade with other
countries, with the aim of subverting the Cuban constitutional order and
subjugating our government.”

The British newspaper Financial Times, Moscow had sent the tanker
‘Sea Horse’ to Cuba with some 27,000 tons of fuel, which is expected to
arrive at its destination in the coming days.

Another Russian tanker, the ‘Anatoly Kolodkin’, is scheduled to
arrive in a Cuban port in early April with some 725,000 barrels of crude
oil.

The Kremlin promised this Friday that it would help Cuba overcome the
crisis, but refrained from confirming the shipment of the two
hydrocarbon tankers.
