Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has called for maintaining the Carribean region as a zone of peace.

Venezuelan
Foreign Minister Yván Gil expressed his gratitude, on behalf of
President Nicolás Maduro, to the Cuban government for calling on the
international community to mobilize against the use of military force in
the Caribbean Sea.

In a Telegram post, Gil said that the
deployment of US naval forces in the region \u201cseeks to provoke a military
conflict against Venezuela, putting the lives and peace of the entire
Caribbean region at serious risk.\u201d

Venezuela has condemned the
fact that the United States is pursuing objectives other than fighting
drug trafficking when deploying military vessels in the Caribbean.

This
Thursday, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel stated on his X account
that \u201cthe true objective of US military actions in the Caribbean is to
seize Venezuela\u2019s oil and resources.\u201d

In this regard, he expressed the urgency of \u201cpreserving Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.\u201d

The
Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement denouncing the
escalation of US military aggression against Venezuela and warning that
direct military aggression against the country would have incalculable
consequences for peace, stability, and security.

The text states
that the accumulation and increase of military resources and personnel
in the Caribbean Sea, the use of force to attack civilian vessels,
murder their crews, and the unjustified interception and detention of a
vessel, in addition to the dissemination of psychological warfare
messages, violate international norms and confirm the hostile and
irresponsible nature of the ongoing operation.

The Cuban Ministry
of Foreign Affairs indicated that the Donald Trump administration is
trying to legitimize these actions in the public eye under the crude
pretext that Venezuela represents a threat to the national security of
the United States and the well-being of its citizens.

Statement

Below is the full statement:

It is urgent to prevent a military aggression against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

Declaration of the Revolutionary Government

The
Revolutionary Government condemns the escalation of actions by the
United States government to justify military aggression against the
Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The buildup and increase in
military assets and personnel in the Caribbean Sea, the use of force to
attack civilian vessels and murder their crews, and the unjustified
interception and detention of a vessel, in violation of international
norms, confirm the hostile and irresponsible nature of the ongoing
operation.

Added to this is the dissemination of psychological
warfare messages by the United States government, attempting to
legitimize these actions in the public eye under the crude pretext that
Venezuela represents a threat to the national security of the United
States and the well-being of its citizens.

The US Secretary of
State, along with his allied congressmen and senators, who are also
responsible for the current escalation of genocide in Gaza, are
attempting to impose their interests by force in Venezuela, which is
unjustifiable and dangerous.

The true objective of these actions is to seize Venezuela\u2019s oil and resources.

Cuba
has repeatedly warned that the deployment of US military forces in the
Caribbean Sea in recent weeks constitutes an act of provocation and
seeks to trigger a military conflict that would force the Bolivarian
Republic of Venezuela to defend its sovereignty and territorial
integrity.

A direct military attack against Venezuela would have
incalculable consequences for the peace, stability, and security of Our
America.

No government can be allowed to resort to the threat or
use of force in contravention of the purposes and principles of the
Charter of the United Nations and international law.

It is urgent to separate lies from reality.

Cuba
urges international mobilization to prevent aggression and preserve
Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace proclaimed by its
heads of state and government.

Havana, September 18, 2025.
