<p>The Resistance in the Gaza Strip continues to confront the Israeli
occupation forces, with operations on the 415th day of Operation al-Aqsa
Flood focusing primarily on Rafah in the south.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/palestinian-resistance-continues-to-confront-iof-in-northern" target="_blank" rel="noopener">al-Qassam Brigades</a>,
the military wing of Hamas, engaged a 10-soldier Israeli infantry unit
at close range on University Street in the al-Janina neighborhood, east
of Rafah, resulting in casualties among the soldiers.</p>
<p>In the same area, the al-Qassam Brigades targeted an Israeli force
that had fortified itself in a house, using an anti-personnel shell.
They also launched two Yassin 105 shells at an Israeli D9 military
bulldozer, setting it on fire, and struck another military vehicle north
of Burj Awwad in Rafah.</p>
<p>In northern Gaza City, specifically in the al-Tawam area, the
al-Qassam Brigades shelled an Israeli command and control post that had
advanced into the area with a barrage of heavy-caliber mortar shells.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian
Islamic Jihad Movement, downed an Israeli Evo Max drone that had been
dropping bombs on residential buildings in the northern Gaza Strip.</p>
<p>As part of the cooperation between various military wings of the
Resistance factions, the al-Qassam Brigades and the Martyr Jihad Jibril
Brigades targeted an Israeli control and command site in the <a href="https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/iof-soldiers-fall-prey-to-al-qassam-ambush-in-gaza" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Netzarim axis with 107mm rockets.</a></p>
<p>Additionally, the al-Quds Brigades, in collaboration with the
al-Mujahideen Brigades, the military wing of the Mujahideen Movement,
struck the Israeli Fajjah military site with 107mm rockets.</p>
<p>The Martyr Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the military wing of the Popular
Front for the Liberation of Palestine, released footage showing their
targeting of <a href="https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/17-palestinians-killed-in-overnight-israeli-strike-on-gaza" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Israeli soldier</a> positions and the Abu Areeban site in Netzarim with heavy-caliber mortar shells.</p>
<h2>'Israel' ignored chances to end wars on Gaza, Lebanon: Ex-official</h2>
<p>There is no visible change in the fighting arena in Gaza, and at the beginning of the second winter of the war, it seems that <a href="https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/former-iof-official--lebanon-agreement-will-be-violated---bu" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wallowing in the Gaza mud</a> is inevitable, former Israeli occupation Air Defense official Tzvika Himovitch said Sunday.</p>
<p>Himovitch admitted in an interview with Israeli media outlet Israel
Hayom that the opportunity to "end the war in Gaza in exchange for the
release of the captives was a paramount Israeli interest, but
unfortunately, it remained an untapped opportunity."</p>
<p>He argued that "a settlement in the north is complicated, especially
regarding the mechanisms for implementing and applying the conditions
insisted upon by Israel," noting that "the situation in Gaza is much
more complex."</p>
<p>"As long as the Israeli government is not willing to discuss what
comes after Hamas in Gaza, we will witness Israeli army incursions and
temporary control operations in different areas of the Gaza Strip,
Jabalia now—and tomorrow?, and the friction between the Israeli army and
the terrorist groups will continue. The cost in terms of our soldiers'
lives will increase more and more," the former Israeli official
stressed.</p>
<p>He emphasized that without a settlement that ends the war and
includes the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, the prospects of
releasing the 101 captives held there have significantly diminished.</p>
