<p>The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon - Hezbollah targeted the "Meron"
Air Traffic Control Base, for the second time this year, in response to
Israeli assassinations in Lebanon and Syria.</p>
<p>In a statement, Hezbollah announced that it launched a large number of rockets and missiles toward the <a href="https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/why-did-hezbollah-strike-the-israeli--meron--intelligence--a">"Meron" military Air Traffic Control Base</a>, located atop al-Jarmaq Mountain.</p>
<p>Israeli media outlets said the power was cut off in several
settlements near the "Meron" settlement around 8 km away from the
Israeli withdrawal line. Sirens were sounded in several areas in Central
al-Jalil, while Israeli media outlets said at least 15 anti-tank guided
missiles (ATGMs) hit sites in the occupied al-Jalil.</p>
<p>The attack preceded a meeting of the Israeli war cabinet, which is
supposed to be held in northern Israeli settlements, where the head of
the colonial outposts, located on the frontlines, are supposed to meet
with members of the Israeli cabinet in an extraordinary session.</p>
<p>Hezbollah also announced that its fighters targeted a grouping of
Israeli occupation soldiers, positioned at the "Cobra" Hill, in the
western district of operations, confirming direct hits to the intended
targets on Tuesday morning.</p>
<h2>First attack showcases Israeli vulnerability</h2>
<p>The new attack on "Meron" followed another operation launched on
January 6, where Hezbollah fighters launched 62 projectiles, including
22 long-range improved ATGMs at the site, in response to the Israeli
aggression on the Southern Suburb of Beirut, in which <a href="https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/as-initial-response--hezbollah-hits-israeli-intel-hq-with-62">martyr Saleh al-Arouri</a> was assassinated.</p>
<p>The "Meron" Air Traffic Control Base, is the only Israeli site in
occupied northern Palestine, which is capable of wide-scale command and
control operations of the Israeli Air Force.</p>
<p>Moreover, the site includes several high-tech and state-of-the-art
radar systems, including early-warning systems and equipment that is
able to more accurately detect low-flying objects, such as drones or
cruise missiles.</p>
<p>Following the January 6 attack, Hezbollah published video footage
showcasing the accuracy of the attack on the Israeli base, in which
multiple rockets surpassed Israeli defense systems and landed in and
around the site, while around <a href="https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/-meron--saga-continues--iron-dome-inapt-against-hezbollah-s">82% of the ATGMs dealt precise hits</a>
to the intended targets in the base. Soon after the first operation was
conducted, the Israeli military launched several moored balloons
equipped with radar systems to make up for those damaged or destroyed by
Hezbollah. </p>
<p>Although the occupation maintained a high level of secrecy regarding
the incident, Hezbollah's documentation of the event forced <a href="https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/hezbollah-s--meron--attack--trailer--of-what-is-to-come--isr">wider Israeli media coverage</a>. </p>
