<p>The Islamic Resistance in Iraq confirmed on Sunday that it had attacked US occupation bases in Iraq and Syria using drones.</p>
<p>"In response to the crimes that the enemy is committing against our
people in Gaza, fighters of the Islamic Resistance of Iraq used a drone
to attack the American occupier’s Green Village base in Syria,"
confirming a direct hit, the Resistance announced in a statement.</p>
<p>The Islamic Resistance in Iraq added that its fighters also targeted
the US occupation base of Ain al-Assad in western Iraq with a drone.</p>
<p><strong>Al Mayadeen</strong>'s sources had reported that US occupation forces in Syria and the Ain al-Assad base were targeted.</p>
<p>Earlier on Sunday, the Resistance said it had carried out a missile
attack on the US occupation base in al-Hasakah province in northeastern
Syria.</p>
<p>Sources told <strong>Al Mayadeen</strong> that the Iraqi Resistance factions targeted the US occupation's Kharab al-Jir base in al-Hasakah countryside <a href="https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/iraqi-resistance-targets-us-base-in-syria-with-7-missiles--s">with seven missiles</a>.
It was the second time that Iraqi Resistance factions have targeted US
assets in the Middle East, since "Israel" renewed its aggression on the
Gaza Strip on Friday morning.</p>
<p><strong>Al Mayadeen</strong>'s sources revealed that the attack
"occurred a few hours after the first wave of reinforcements arrived at
the American base." A US military cargo plane, holding military
equipment and weapons, arrived at the Kharab al-Jir airfield, after
departing from the US bases in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, according to
the sources.</p>
<p>Another shipment arrived at the airfield on Friday, carrying similar
equipment and weapons, our sources said. Moreover, sources told <strong>Al Mayadeen</strong>
that the weapons that arrived in the airfield were for defense purposes
and that the cargo was meant to be distributed among US occupation
bases in Deir Ezzor and al-Hasakah. They also added that this comes in
line with the US efforts to intercept the attacks launched by the
Resistance.</p>
<p>Five members of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq have been martyred as a
result of a strike on Kirkuk, northern Iraq, informed sources told <strong>Al Mayadeen</strong>.</p>
<p>The Islamic Resistance in Iraq later mourned five of its fighters who
"rose in the battle of right against falsehood, embodied by the
American occupation forces in Iraq."</p>
<p>Moreover, the Resistance in Iraq affirmed that it will remain
steadfast in its confrontations against its enemies, promising to
intensify its attacks against the US occupation forces, until they are
"expelled, humiliated, and defeated from" Iraq.</p>
<p>A US military official later confirmed that US forces carried out
what he called a "self-defense strike" in Iraq. "A self-defense strike
was carried out on a drone staging site," the official said on condition
of anonymity. It took place "in the vicinity of Kirkuk" and targeted
"an imminent threat", he added.</p>
<p>Last week, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani confirmed Iraq’s position <a href="https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/al-sudani-to-blinken--us-attacks-violate-iraqi-sovereignty">rejecting any aggression against Iraqi lands</a> during a phone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.</p>
<p>During the call, al-Sudani emphasized that the November 22 US <a href="https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/five-iraqis-killed-in-a-us-air-strike">aerial attack on the Jurf al-Nasr area</a>
that left eight martyrs from the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF)
constituted a violation of Iraqi sovereignty, as indicated in a
statement by his office.</p>
<p>Resistance factions in Iraq have previously said they consider US
occupation bases in the region as legitimate targets, as the US has
offered "Israel" its "unwavering support", enabling it to carry out its
massacres against the Palestinian people, by offering it the necessary
military, financial, and diplomatic backing.</p>
