a truly saddened heart we inform you that the co-founder and long-time
National Spokesperson of our organization, the MOVIMIENTO DE LIBERACION
NACIONAL (MLN), COMPANERO RICARDO ROMERO passed last Friday, April 28,
2023. </span></div>

</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif">Companero
Ricardo was a tireless committed fighter for our people since the
1960's. He was a member of the Crusade for Justice in Colorado. He
supported the striking workers at Kitayama farms in Northern Colorado.
He participated in the 1968 Poor People's March on Washington with a
delegation of our people. He helped coordinate the People's Moratorium
on Police Abuse in the late 1970's in New York City.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif"><br>
</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif">In
1978, he co-founded the MLN, which at that time represented the unity
of Mexican and Puerto Rican national liberation struggles. Companero
Ricardo testified several times at the United Nations on behalf of the
Mexicano struggle for national liberation and in support of the Puerto
Rican independence struggle. Ricardo was twice jailed for his
non-collaboration stance before grand juries which were investigating
the Puerto Rican independence struggle. </span></div>

<div><span style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif">Companero
Ricardo was instrumental in leading an armed land take-over in Tierra
Amarilla and establishing the Tierra Amarilla Youth Brigades. </span></div>

</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif">Companero
Ricardo built important ties with the New African liberation struggle.
Companero Ricardo traveled to Puerto Rico and the Basque lands in order
to internationalize the struggle of the Mexicano people.</span></div>

<div><span style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif">In
the 1970's Companero Ricardo was a member of the Partido Proletario
Unido de America, led by Florencio "GUERO" Medrano. Guero was the first
Mexicano guerrillero who recognized that Mexico was militarily divided
with an occupied Northern territory and a dependent nation in the south.</span></div>

<div style="font-weight:normal"><span style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif">RICARDO
ROMERO's memory, commitment and teachings will live on and guide us as
we continue the Mexicano people's struggle for national liberation and
socialist reunification.</span></div>
