threatening tens of thousands of dunums of land in Masafer Yatta area,
which the Israeli occupation state plans to annex and expel its local
residents from.

“About 60,000 dunums of Masafer Yatta land are threatened with
appropriation and its residents with displacement by the occupation
state and settlers,” head of the council Nidhal Yunis said in press
remarks on Monday.

“The occupation state classified 35,000 dunums of Masafer Yatta land as a
firing zone and issued decision ordering the expulsion of its residents
from it, while settlers are trying to seize another 25,000 dunums of
its land,” Yunis added.

In a related context, the Israeli occupation army delivered on Monday
morning a demolition notice against the elementary school of Khashm
al-Karm in the Bedouin community of al-Badiya in Masafer Yatta, south of
al-Khalil.

The army gave the local authorities 96 hours to evacuate the school as a prelude to demolishing it.

“The school is located within the zoning plan of Arab an-Najada village
in Yatta, which has a population of 450 citizens,” Yunis pointed out.

“33 students from first to fourth grade receive their education at the
school, which was established at the beginning of the current academic
year with funding from European countries,” he added.

Last week, the Israeli army demolished the Isfey elementary school in
the hamlet of Khirbet Isfey al-Fuqa in Masafer Yatta. It is one of more
than a dozen schools built across the occupied West Bank with funding
from the European Union.
