A number of Palestinian families rallied on Tuesday in the West Bank to
demand the Red Cross to pressure the Israeli occupation authority (IOA)
to release the bodies of their slain relatives, which are detained in
Israeli morgues or buried in unknown graves.

Dozens of martyrs’ families and activists participated in sit-ins staged
outside the Red Cross headquarters in Ramallah, al-Khalil, Nablus and
Jenin. The participants carried pictures of the martyrs still detained
by the IOA.

During the sit-ins, spokespersons for the families handed Red Cross
officials letters to urge the international organization to assume its
responsibilities in this regard and work on pressuring the IOA to
release the withheld bodies of martyrs.

The IOA has been hiding the remains of hundreds of Palestinians since
1967, withholding them in morgues or having them in nameless graves
known as the cemeteries of numbers.
