Cuba scored a resounding victory at the United
Nations General Assembly, in which the
resolution “Necessity of ending the economic,
commercial and financial embargo imposed by the
United States of America against Cuba” was passed with 187
votes in favor, 3 against and 2 abstentions.

The world condemned the blockade once again.
The voting boards at the Assembly General hall
displayed the overwhelming majority of the
international community favoring Cuba and
opposing the blockade imposed by the United
States Administration against the Cuban people.

The United States and Israel repeated this year
as the countries opposing the resolution; the
duet was joined by Brazil for the first time.
Colombia and Ukraine abstained, while Moldova
did not vote.

For 28 consecutive years, since 1992, the
Assembly General of the United Nations has been
passing Cuba’s resolution with an increasing
majority demanding the lifting of the economic,
commercial and financial blockade imposed by the
U.S. on the island 60 years ago.

Cuban Foreign Minister: The U.S. undeniably
isolated

“187 countries voted to end the blockade. The
U.S. is undeniably isolated,” posted Cuba’s
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Padilla in his
Twitter profile. “Brutal pressures show the
moral bankruptcy and corruption of the current
Administration. Another resounding victory for
Cuba, for our heroic people; it’s a victory for
the truth and justice,” posted the Foreign
Minister
