              <p>Venezuelan Foreign Minister <a
href="http://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Venezuela-Condemns-Lima-Meeting-and-Calls-for-Regional-Dialogue-20170809-0033.html">Jorge
                  Arreaza</a> has issued a statement on behalf of the
                nation in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's <a
href="http://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Trump-Rules-Out-Call-But-Keeps-Military-Option-for-Venezuela--20170811-0023.html">recent
                  threat</a>, vowing to defend the South American
                country's sovereignty at all costs against foreign
                hegemony.</p>

              <p>The newly-appointed minister also called on the
                international community to help defend Venezuela's right
                to self-determination.</p>
              <p>"The U.S. administration reaffirms its imperialist and
                neoliberal policy against the Venezuelan people,"
                Arreaza said during a press conference.</p>
              <p>He also said the threats "violate the principles of the
                United Nations and the norms of international law." </p>
              <p>And he stressed that they were issued by Trump a day
                after the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro ratified
                his willingness to have talks with his U.S. counterpart,
                adding "The moment has come for the international
                community to stop U.S. aggression against the Venezuelan
                people."</p>
              <p>Earlier, the Venezuelan minister held talks with 62
                representatives of the diplomatic corps, including the
                U.S. charge d'affaires.</p>
              <p>Arreaza said that during the meeting he received
                solidarity from representatives and international
                organizations who rejected the threat of military force.</p>
              <p>At the same time he called for dialogue with the United
                States. </p>
              <p>Thanking groups and politicians from around the world
                that have <a
href="http://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/The-World-Reacts-to-Trumps-Military-Threat-Against-Venezuela-20170812-0007.html">expressed
                  support</a> for Venezuela, Arreaza reaffirmed the need
                for global solidarity against "neo-colonial aggression."</p>
              <p>"As (Simon) Bolivar said, the unity of our people is
                part of our destiny. This is a moment of unity. Is the
                time for unity of the peoples of the world, especially
                Our America."</p>
              <p><a

                  Rodriguez</a>, president of Venezuela's <a
href="http://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Venezuelas-National-Constituent-Assembly-Explained--20170729-0028.html">National
                  Constituent Assembly</a>, ANC, has announced that the
                political body will work alongside Venezuelan President
                <a
href="http://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Why-Maduro-Is-Putting-His-Post-at-the-Disposal-of-the-ANC-20170810-0037.html">Nicolas
                  Maduro</a> in the face of the military threat posed by
                U.S. President Donald Trump.</p>
              <p>On Friday, Trump <a
href="http://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Trump-Rules-Out-Call-But-Keeps-Military-Option-for-Venezuela--20170811-0023.html">said</a>
                that the United States is exploring “many options
                regarding Venezuela, including a possible military
                option if necessary.”</p>
              <p>Given this, “the National Constituent Assembly will act
                to accompany the head of state, Maduro, in the defense
                of our beloved Venezuela,” Rodriguez said.</p>
              <p>The ex-foreign minister also rejected the “cowardly,
                insolent and vile threats of the president of the United
                States against the sacred sovereignty of Venezuela.”</p>
              <p>She concluded that “offenses and aggressions against
                the highest levels of government will be repudiated by
                the anti-imperialist people of Venezuela."</p>
