BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Palestinian Islamic and National forces in the
occupied West Bank joined together on Monday to call for a ‘Day of
Rage’ on Friday, June 2, “in all Palestinian districts and around
the world” in protest against the Israeli occupation of Palestine
and to demand independence for the Palestinian people. <br>
<br>
<div>The various political factions convened on Monday and released
a statement, confirming their rejection of Israeli aggressions in
occupied East Jerusalem and demanded that protection be provided
for Palestinian Jerusalemites against <a

target="_blank">Israeli attempts to “Judaize” the city.</a>In
the meeting, forces said that Israel “must be forced to commit to
the <a href="http://www.maannews.com/Content.aspx?id=776816"
target="_blank">UNESCO </a>and <a
href="http://www.maannews.com/Content.aspx?id=774590"
target="_blank">UNSC </a>resolutions regarding Jerusalem and
the Al-Aqsa mosque,” confirmed their rejection of the <a
href="http://www.maannews.com/Content.aspx?id=777244"
target="_blank">return to peace negotiations under American
auspices,</a> and condemned US President Donald Trump’s
categorization of the Hamas movement as a terrorist group, which
the forces said wrongfully associated the <a

target="_blank">Palestinian resistance movement with terrorism.
</a><br>
<br>
</div>
<div>“The US will not succeed in directing attention away from the
Palestinian cause,” the groups said, adding that “there will be no
security or peace until the end of occupation, the return of
refugees to their homelands and the establishment of an
independent Palestinian state.”<br>
<br>
</div>
<div>Forces also congratulated the Palestinian people on “the
successful support they provided to prisoners while on hunger
strike,” and congratulated Palestinian prisoners for their
“victory” after<a
href="http://www.maannews.com/Content.aspx?id=777343"
target="_blank"> ending a 40-day mass hunger strike on Saturday</a>,
despite <a href="http://www.maannews.com/Content.aspx?id=777381"
target="_blank">conflicting reports over what demands were
actually met</a> in negotiations with Israeli Prison Services
(IPS). <br>
<br>
</div>
<div>Over the course of the 40 day strike, during which time up to
at least 1,600 prisoners abstained from food for a period of time,
Palestinian factions joined together on multiple occasions to call
for <a href="http://www.maannews.com/Content.aspx?id=777183"
target="_blank">‘days of rage’</a> against Israeli forces, which
saw clashes across the occupied West Bank and Gaza, and <a
href="http://www.maannews.com/Content.aspx?id=777005"
target="_blank">several Palestinians injured with live fire. </a><br>
<br>
</div>
One Palestinian was <a
href="http://www.maannews.com/Content.aspx?id=777283"
target="_blank">shot dead last week</a> by an Israeli settler
during clashes that erupted after a solidarity march near the
village of Huwwara, south of Nablus in the northern occupied West
Bank. <br>
