Ward Churchill has long been an outspoken critic of violence by the

State, and as such, has attracted negative attention from those in<br>

positions of power in the government, the media, and academia. Not

to back down in the face of criticism, Churchill will speak on

repression as well as the history and the lasting effects of<br>

colonization and genocide in America.<br><br>

Although COINTELPRO formally ended in the 1970s, the US government<br>

continues to wage covert operations and other repressive tactics to<br>

"expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise

neutralize" radical<br>

social movements. Ward Churchill (author of COINTELPRO PAPERS) will<br>

speak on the history of COINTELPRO and the State's ongoing campaigns

of<br>

repression targeting dissident groups. Richard Brown will speak on<br>

behalf of the SF8, eight former Black Panthers whose recent arrest

on<br>

previously-dismissed charges demonstrates that COINTELPRO is alive and

well.<br><br>
