Palestinian farmers continued the nonviolent resistance to occupation

Thursday by attempting to reach their olive groves for harvest Thursday.

Accompanied by foreign supporters joining to witness and help protect

against Israeli aggression, the farmers headed to their lands in the

eastern part of the southern West Bank's Hebron District this afternoon.

All were surprised, however, to find that their lands had been fenced

off. <br><br>

Dr. Ra'ed Abu Yousef of the Palestine Solidarity Association / France,

said that an Israeli settlement, illegal under international law as all

are, is in the area. He told PNN Thursday that some 50 foreigners joined

the farmers to reach the olive grove, but settlers just to the north had

erected a fence to block Palestinians from their land. <br><br>

Sources from the National Campaign to Reap the Fruits of the Olive

Harvest, supervised by the Public Committee for the Defense of Land in

the West Bank and the Agricultural Relief Works Committee said that with

Israeli soldier and settler violence, both direct and structural,

conducting the olive harvest becomes increasingly difficult each year.

Sources in the campaign told PNN that the Israeli settlers imposed the

fence as part of boundaries they are attempting to create on occupied

Palestinian land.<br><br>
