Chavez: Assassination of Venezuelans Will Not Go Unpunished<br><br>
Caracas, Sep 19 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez<br>
stated here Sunday that the assassination of six Venezuelans by a<br>
terrorist group will not remain unpunished, no matter who carried
out<br>
the cowardly ambush.<br><br>
During the 204 broadcast of Aló presidente radio-television show,
from<br>
the Caracas community of Macarao, the Head of State stressed "we
are<br>
not going to tolerate anybody violating our territory"s
sovereignty."<br><br>
An irregular armed group attacked Saturday Petroleos de Venezuela<br>
(PDVSA) commission, which has been prospecting oil in the northern<br>
state of Apure, protected by an Army-National Guard combined
patrol.<br><br>
Engineer Ana Laura Carrasco, Army"s second lieutenant Carlos
Perez<br>
Fernandez, the military group"s commander, and other four
soldiers<br>
died in the attack.<br><br>
The President highlighted that Venezuela will impede illegal groups
to<br>
establish in the country, regardless of their place of origin and<br>
recalled the thousands of armed men operating in Colombia, along
the<br>
extensive and permeable mutual border.<br><br>
Chavez said the Colombian internal conflict has given rise to
illegal<br>
armed groups, such as guerrillas, anti-guerrillas, paramilitaries,<br>
drug traffickers, thieves and kidnappers.<br><br>
He called on the Colombian government to be stricter in meeting its<br>
responsibilities, adding that "we continue to witness official<br>
statements, which simply seem irresponsible and manipulative,"
he<br>
said.<br><br>
Accordingly, he indicated, he has ordered the local armed forces to<br>
deepen the patrolling system on water, ground and air, and try to
look<br>
for any clues leading to the assailants, who will be dealt with in
a<br>
convincingly manner.<br><br>
He ratified the executive decision of declaring any Venezuelan
bearing<br>
arms without authorization an outlaw. "We don"t support them,
we don"t<br>
need them," he concluded.<br><br>
