<b>Sahar Saba </b>is a spokeswoman for the Revolutionary Association of
the Women of Afghanistan. Serving on RAWA's foreign affairs committee,
Sahar has traveled to many countries in the past several years to speak
on behalf of RAWA. Sahar was born in Kabul; in 1979, her family fled
Afghanistan to the refugee camps in Pakistan to escape the Soviet
invasion, and she was educated at one of RAWA's underground schools.

<b>Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan</b> <b>(RAWA)
<br>
</b>RAWA was established in Kabul, Afghanistan in 1977 as an independent
political/social organization of Afghan women fighting for human rights
and for social justice in Afghanistan. The founders were a number of
Afghan woman intellectuals, led by Meena, who was assassinated in Quetta,
Pakistan in 1987 by Afghan agents of the KGB. RAWA's objective is to
involve an increasing number of Afghan women in social and political
activities aimed at acquiring women's human rights and contributing to
the struggle for the establishment of a government based on democratic
and secular values in Afghanistan. Despite the suffocating political
atmosphere, RAWA has been involved in widespread activities in different
socio-political arenas including education, health and income generation
as well as political agitation. For more information see:

</b>BPF was founded in 1978 and celebrating its 26th anniversary this
year, is 5,000 members strong. Our openhearted engagement with the world

<b>Melody Ermachild Chavis</b> is an author and private investigator who
works against the death penalty. she traveled to Pakistan and
Afghanistan to research the first-ever biography of RAWA's founder.
<br><br>
<b>Samsara</b> is an a capella women's trio who unite fierce,
extraordinary vocal music with passionate struggles for justice. They
strive to connect the music of struggle, freedom and tradition, creating
the new generation of the culture of resistance. Samsara's repertoire
ranges from traditional folksongs, sea songs, worksongs and spirituals
with new arrangements, to satirical parodies and original music on
current topics, all with tight, searing, dissonant and bittersweet
harmonies and intricate vocal percussions. Loren Olds, Rebecca Anders and
Susan Appe are activists, teachers, musicians and artists, and as Samsara
they have been performing everywhere from the streets to the Union Halls.
Samsara has taught workshops on using your voice as resistance‚ across
the country and have been an active participants in, and organizers of,
numerous benefits, protests and demonstrations for social, economic and
environmental justice. <br><br>
