*Statement from the Cuban Chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity*

Imperialism frivolously plans the times. Each step is part of its
historical obsession to take over Cuba.

To the historic blockade – the longest in history – it added the fuel
blockade under blackmail and the threat to anyone trying to sell oil to
Cuba. To this, it added again a set of sanctions between 29 January and 7
May.

On that terrain of calculated privations reaching asphyxiation, amid
titanic efforts by the Revolutionary Government of Cuba to install solar
energy sources, a ship sent by Russia arrived in April that helped
alleviate the serious energy situation.

It is no by chance that when the fuel ran out and facing the arrival of
summer, the Trump administration played two cards: request permission for
the CIA director’s visit and offer $100 million in humanitarian aid.

Amid enormous pressures, the sentence of Secretary of State Marco Rubio is
imposed as a mantra: “Cuba is a failed state.” Added to Trump’s belief:
“They will come to us.”

Marco Rubio drew from his box of lies the warning: “China and Russia bases
installed in Cuba are a threat to the Western Hemisphere.”

Everything is false, and they all know it: from the congress people who
visited Cuba to the big mass media.

It is not a diagnosis; it is the perverse planning made by a decadent
empire about what it thinks is his ripe fruit. Now, the new narrative has
begun: “Cuban drones would be activated.” They are trying to prepare for
the final stunt.

Its defeat in Iran, the proximity of midterm elections, the signing of more
than six million Cubans willing to defend their sovereignty, not having
achieved an internal explosion and seeing that the people are still working
and resisting makes them desperate.

The anti-Cuban fascist minority anchored in Florida has at last found a
government on which to ride on, to put pressure on, and try to bend by
blackmailing their votes. They want a quick triumph. They want to reinstate
casinos, drugs and prostitution. They want the port, schools, and the
nationalized properties.

It is the rush of the empire when it feels time is slipping away.

A fierce blockade going on for more than six decades has failed for them to
understand the cost of their punitive and failed policy. They do not
understand with which people they are dealing with.

This is the same people and the same Rebel Army that, after years of
internationalist struggle in Africa, sat at a negotiating table where
imperialism sought to extricate from them the certainty of whether or not
they would cross the border of Namibia. But the Cuban head of negotiations
replied: “We can’t say whether we will or whether we won’t.”

*They will never know about our silent decision.*

*They will never know about the sacrifices we are willing to brand.*

This internationalism bequeathed by Fidel and Raúl did not expand our
geographical borders, nor did it bring gold and silver; it only brought to
our soil the dead we handed over. However, it has forever expanded our
political boundaries, of unparalleled solidarity and respect.

That is the fact that the empire, in its despair, fails to comprehend: that
an invasion to Cuba will not be only against Cuba. It will be against all
the peoples of the world who begin to sign and enlist, as they did in Bay
of Pigs to defend Cuba against aggression.

*Resistance will not have a single trench: it will multiply in every space
of Our America and beyond.*

Cuba knows the script because it has suffered it for more than sixty years.
Cuba knows that behind every accusation, there is a plan for domination,
behind every “threat” made up there is a fleet ready to set sail, and
behind every “failed nation”, there is the greed from one who dreams of
sharing its spoils.

*However, this people does not start knowing about resistance now. It comes
from far away and this people remembers from where its first mission
started.*

When in the Sierra Maestra the American rockets fell on the house of the
humble peasant Mario Sariol and everything seemed to fall apart, Fidel
pronounced the words that today today resound an identical sense of the
present

“Seeing the rockets that were dropped on Mario’s house, I’ve sworn to
myself that the Americans are going to pay dearly for what they’re doing.
When this war gets over, a much longer and bigger war will start for me:
the war I am going to wage against them. I realize that this is going to be
my true destiny.”

That certainty was not an slogan in the spur of the moment; it was the
foundational compass of the Revolution. And that compass is what continues
to guide us.

*Only they will know, when they attempt the final standoff, that Cuba is
still standing, clinging to its first mission, which is also its last
trench: fighting against imperialism.*
