[News] Flotilla to Gaza Spring 2026 Update: May 5th, 2026

Dear Respected Advocates and Activists,

I am writing to share another critical update regarding the Spring 2026 
Flotilla mission and recent developments in occupied Palestine.

As you may be aware, our comrades *Thiago Ávila and Saif Abukeshek 
remain captive*in Israeli prison with no charges issued against them. 
They were kidnapped last week in international waters and have since 
been subjected to torture, psychological abuse, and death threats. They 
remain on hunger strike. The Ashkelon Magistrates’ Court has granted the 
state’s request to extend their detention until Sunday, May 10th.

pressure on relevant embassies and U.S. officials to demand their 
release. We also strongly urge civil society organizations to issue 
statements calling for their immediate release and recognizing their 
case as representative of Israel's broader, more violent pattern of 
kidnapping and holding Palestinians hostage

particularly, the system of “administrative detention

capture and hold Palestinians from Gaza and the occupied territories in

to systematic physical and psychological abuse and torture, including 
rape, starvation, sleep deprivation, and other crimes against humanity.

    multiple neighborhoods in the occupied West Bank, as part of their
    project of ethnic cleansing. This past week, there were multiple
    attacks, leaving dozens of Palestinians injured and multiple young
