"Israel" and the Lebanese Resistance - Hezbollah

have reached an agreement on a ceasefire, set to go into effect at 4:00 pm
local time on Friday, a senior US official confirmed to *Reuters*.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that both sides
have formally consented to halt hostilities following intense diplomatic
negotiations

.
“Hezbollah and Israel have agreed to a ceasefire
<https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/israeli-officer-among-four-killed-in-southern-lebanon-hezbol>,”
the official stated, adding that the deal was brokered jointly by US and
Qatari mediators, with significant backing from Iran.
"We understand that after the exchange of fire earlier today, Israel and
Hezbollah are now in a ceasefire," the official asserted.
However, *Al Mayadeen*'s correspondent in southern Lebanon reported that an
Israeli airstrike targeted Nabatieh as the purported ceasefire went into
effect.
In this context, *Channel 13* cited a high-ranking Israeli official as
saying, "We are currently in a state of ceasefire, and if Hezbollah doesn't
attack us, then in our viewpoint, this is not the time for war."
However, he maintained that "Israeli forces remain in southern Lebanon,"
claiming, "We have the freedom of operation against any direct threats that
target our forces and territory."
'Israel' expands its aggressions on Lebanon after military failures
This comes after the Israeli occupation dramatically expanded
<https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/-israel--expands-aggression-on-lebanon-after-failed-advance>
its aerial campaign across Lebanon overnight into Friday, unleashing waves
of bombardment on the South, the Bekaa, and the Baalbek district.
The offensive followed an Israeli battlefield setback
<https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/israeli-officer-among-four-killed-in-southern-lebanon-hezbol>
in which the Lebanese Resistance repelled an incursion toward Ali al-Taher
and Kfar Tibnit in Nabatieh, striking three Merkava tanks and killing four
Israeli soldiers, including a battalion commander, with roughly 17 others
wounded. Israeli media confirmed the night as among the most difficult in
the occupation's military history.
Israeli warplanes carried out sustained strikes
<https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/al-mayadeen-publishes-map-disputing-israeli-claims-in-south>
beginning shortly after midnight and continuing past midmorning. In the
South, attacks targeted Harouf, al-Sharqieh, Jibchit, Kfar Joz, Nabatieh
city, Kfar Sir, Toul, al-Jabbour, Jbaa, and Habboush in repeated waves,
while additional bombardments hit Doueir, Deir al-Zahrani, Blat, Jabal
al-Rafi', Sojod, and Kfar Hounah. Later, strikes resumed on Touline, Kfar
Tebnit, al-Aishiyeh, Doueir, and al-Nabatieh al-Fawqa, with Arab Salim
suffering at least eight separate raids before noon.
In the Bekaa, warplanes bombed the Litani River basin near Zellaya and the
Abu Rashed heights, while Baalbek came under attack with strikes on Douris
and a farm near Dar al-Hekma Hospital in al-Jammaliyah. Drone attacks
separately targeted Nabatieh

a motorcycle on the Deir al-Zahrani road, and the Tal al-Abyad area at
Baalbek's northern entrance. Hostile drones also hovered over Beirut's
Southern Suburb, and artillery shelling struck the outskirts of Nabatieh,
Zibdine, Bani Hayyan, Srifa, Qlaileh, Majdal Zoun, and Jibchit.
'Israel' massacres civilians
The intensity of the bombardment severely hampered emergency response
<https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/two-lebanese-citizens-killed--others-wounded-amid-israeli-vi>,
with the Public Health Ministry's Emergency Operations Center reporting
that rescue teams were unable to evacuate casualties for hours due to the
ongoing strikes.
As of approximately 9 am, the preliminary toll stood at 18 martyred and 33
wounded, though figures remained in flux as search-and-rescue operations
continued through the morning.
The deadliest single strike occurred in Harouf, where seven people were
martyred and 10 wounded, including three toddlers and two young women. In
al-Sharqieh, three martyrs, among them two women and a child, and two
wounded were reported, while Doueir recorded three martyrs after a
residential building in the Education School neighborhood was hit. Initial
local counts suggested a higher figure of seven that had yet to be
reconciled with the Ministry's tally.
Additional fatalities included three martyrs in al-Abbasiyah, two in
al-Qatrani, two elderly individuals in Jibchit, and one from a drone strike

on the Deir al-Zahrani road. The wounded list included nine in Habboush,
four in Kfar Sir, two in Nabatieh, two in Qaaqaiyet al-Jisr, and two in
Adshit.
The Lebanese Civil Defense also confirmed that one of its own paramedics
from the Doueir center was martyred alongside his family in the al-Sharqieh
attack, underscoring the human toll on first responders.
