Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com <https://orinocotribune.com/>)—Venezuelan Vice
President Delcy Rodríguez released a letter sent by President Nicolás
Maduro to Donald Trump, which she said reveals “the irrefutable truth about
Venezuela.” The letter, supported by maps and scientific data, aims to
demonstrate that the country is “a territory free of any illicit activity,”
and is always aiming at diplomacy.

The letter, dated September 6 and released September 22, was sent four days
after a US strike on a small boat killed 11 Venezuelans. In it, President
Maduro reminded Trump of conversations with his special envoy, Rick
Grenell, regarding Venezuela’s record in combating international drug
trafficking. Maps from the United Nation’s World Drugs Report were attached
to the letter.

The Venezuelan head of state warned that fake news and covert operations
are being used to attack Venezuela. He urged his US counterpart to unite
their efforts to defeat the campaign of lies “that fills with noise a
relationship that must be historic and peaceful, as our Liberator Simón
Bolívar always envisioned.”

On September 5, President Maduro had called reports being passed to Trump
about Venezuela false. He stated that “Venezuela has always expressed a
willingness to engage in dialogue, but just as we are willing to talk, we
demand respect for our country and our people, as we will continue to
defend the truth about Venezuela, no matter the cost.”

Through social media, VP Rodríguez said the letter was delivered to a South
American intermediary on September 6 for delivery to Trump. However, given
that it was partially leaked by US media, “the Venezuelan government
assumes responsibility” to publicly disclose its full content. She posted
graphics and maps demonstrating that Venezuela is “a land of peace that
tirelessly fights against drug trafficking.”

Rodríguez reaffirmed that “the military threat against Venezuela, the
Caribbean and South America must cease, and the CELAC Zone of Peace
proclamation must be respected.” She affirmed that Venezuela, “in perfect
popular, military and police unity, will continue to defend its right to
sovereignty, peace and the sacred legacy of our Liberator Simón Bolívar.”

Experts see the letter as new evidence of the Venezuelan government’s
willingness to open communication and diplomatic channels to neutralize
forces driving US policy toward its socialist revolution.

Trump on Sunday declined to confirm whether he had received a letter from
Maduro. When asked about the matter, he said, “We’ll see what happens with
Venezuela.”

On Saturday, Trump said on Truth Social that Venezuela would pay a heavy
price if it does not readmit its “prisoners” who have been “forced” to go
to the United States by the “Venezuelan leadership.” This came amid an
escalation over Washington’s military threats against Venezuela.

Below is a full, unofficial translation of the letter:

*Caracas, September 6, 2025*

*His Excellency*
*Donald J. Trump*
*President of the United States of America*

*Respected President Donald Trump,*

*I am sending this communication to you to share some thoughts and
information.*

*Currently, many controversies have arisen surrounding the relationship
between the United States and Venezuela. Amid these controversies, we have
witnessed countless cases of so-called fake news circulating in the media.*

*I recall the fake news regarding Venezuela’s refusal to accept migrants
back to our country. This issue was quickly resolved and clarified in a
conversation with Ambassador Richard Grenell. This channel has, to this
day, functioned impeccably.*

*During these first months of your second administration, we have always
sought direct communication to address and resolve any issue that arises
between our two governments.*

*In recent weeks, the absolutely false allegations of ties to mafias and
drug trafficking gangs by the highest legitimate authorities in Venezuela
have taken center stage. This is the worst kind of fake news launched
against our country to justify an escalation of an armed conflict that
would cause catastrophic damage to the entire continent.*

*I spoke at length with Special Envoy Rick Grenell about this and other
topics. In that regard, I am sending you compelling data on drug production
and drug trafficking in South America, which, based on real facts,
conclusively demonstrates that Venezuela is a territory free of drug
production and a non-relevant country in the narcotics field, thanks to the
immense efforts made over the years by our police and military forces.*

*As demonstrated by data from the UN and other organizations that you can
corroborate with your own intelligence agencies, 87% of the drugs produced
in Colombia leave through Pacific ports; 8% through the northern Guajira
region of Colombia; and only 5% attempt to be transported through
Venezuela. All seized drugs are combated, intercepted and destroyed along
the 2,200 kilometers of border we have with Colombia.*

*A very relevant fact is that this year we have already neutralized and
destroyed more than 70% of that small percentage which attempts to cross
our extensive border with Colombia, stretching more than 2,200 kilometers.
We have destroyed 402 international drug trafficking aircraft in accordance
with the procedures of Venezuelan law. This data confirms Venezuela’s
impeccable record in combating international trafficking of illicit drugs,
as expressed by all international organizations and agencies specializing
in the matter.*

*President, I hope that together we can defeat this fake news that fills
with noise a relationship that must be historic and peaceful, as our
Liberator Simón Bolívar always envisioned.*

*I have said publicly on many occasions that I recognize the impressive
work you are doing to end the war that you inherited in other regions of
the world. Therefore, I support the pronouncement of CELAC, which ratified
Latin America and the Caribbean as a territory of peace on Thursday,
September 4. Therefore, I invite you, President, to preserve peace with
dialogue and understanding throughout the hemisphere.*

*These and other topics will always be open to a direct and frank
conversation with your special envoy, Rick Grenell, to overcome the media
noise and fake news.*

*From Caracas, Venezuela, birthplace of liberators, I will always be ready
to defend peace and life.*

*Nicolás Maduro Moros*
