Israeli warplanes bombed Sana’a and other Yemeni areas, with Ansarallah
vowing that its support for Gaza and attacks on Israel will continue.
The Yemeni capital, Sana’a, was struck by Israeli airstrikes on Wednesday,
causing deaths and injuries at the Moral Guidance Headquarters in the city
center, Yemeni media reported.
For its part, Reuters news agency reported that the attack also targeted
the Ministry of Defense.
Ansarallah’s military spokesman Yahya Saree stated that air defenses were
intercepting Israeli aircraft carrying out aggression against Yemen, adding
that his forces had managed to “thwart the largest part of the Zionist
attack.”
Nasr al-Din Amer, deputy head of Ansarallah’s media authority, confirmed
that the raids were limited to Sana’a and Al-Jawf, noting that the
explosions heard in other governorates were the result of air defenses.
An Ansarallah official stressed that the Israeli aggression would not
affect the group’s operations in support of Gaza.
Hazam al-Assad, a member of Ansarallah’s Political Bureau, said that the
strikes targeted civilian areas and residential neighborhoods in Sana’a.
He described the aggression as “a desperate attempt by a bankrupt criminal
to fabricate an imaginary media victory,” while affirming that Ansarallah’s
position in defending Gaza remained unwavering.
The Yemeni Oil Company reported that one of the raids hit the medical
sector station on 60th Street in Sana’a.
Israeli media reported that Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said that
Israel’s forces bombed camps in Sana’a and other areas of Yemen, including
a media unit.
“We promised to carry out additional strikes, and today we dealt a severe
blow to Ansarallah in Yemen,” Katz reportedly declared, adding that
Israel’s “long arm will reach out to strike terrorism wherever it poses a
threat.”
The Israeli army said its raids were a response to Ansarallah-led missile
and drone attacks against Israel, claiming to have targeted military camps,
the headquarters of the Military Information Department, and a fuel storage
site.
Israeli media also reported strikes on missile launch pads, the
headquarters of military spokesman Yahya Saree, and other facilities.
This is the first Israeli attack since the August 28 raids that killed
Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahwi, the head of the Yemeni government in Sana’a, along
with 11 senior officials. Al-Rahwi remains the most senior political figure
killed in the confrontation that has escalated between Israel and
Ansarallah in the context of the war on Gaza.
In recent days, Ansarallah has launched several missile and drone strikes
on Israel and on ships linked to or heading toward it, saying that its
operations are in response to the ongoing Israeli genocide in the Gaza
Strip.
