The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has denounced what it described as
a “new Zionist crime,” after Israeli authorities issued demolition and
construction halt orders for around 30 Palestinian homes in the towns of
al-Issawiya and Al-Za’im in occupied Jerusalem.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Hamas said the move reflects a
“fascist policy aimed at emptying the city of its Palestinian residents and
erasing its Arab and Islamic identity.”

The Movement stressed that the demolition campaign is part of a “systematic
policy of ethnic cleansing” designed to displace Jerusalem’s Palestinian
population from their homes and lands.

Hamas affirmed that such measures will never alter the city’s Palestinian
identity nor break the steadfastness of its people.

Hamas called on the Palestinian people and all national factions to unite
in confronting Israel’s settlement expansion and displacement policies,
describing them as “an existential threat to the Palestinian people and to
Jerusalem.”

The Movement emphasized that popular resistance and national unity are the
only effective means to counter these escalating violations.

The statement urged the international community and human rights
organizations to condemn what it called “Israeli plans amounting to ethnic
cleansing crimes,” and to take concrete action to hold Israel accountable
for its ongoing atrocities against Palestinians.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) delivered
nearly 30 demolition notices to Palestinian families in the Al-Saidi
Bedouin community in Al-Za’im, as part of an ongoing campaign to forcibly
displace residents and clear the area of its inhabitants.

Residents of the targeted community face growing pressure on the part of
the IOA, which often justify such actions by claiming “unauthorized
construction” or labeling the area a “firing zone.” Palestinians, however,
see these measures as part of broader efforts to expand nearby settlements
and tighten Israeli control over lands surrounding Jerusalem.
