Gaza (QNN)- Israeli forces have launched a series of attacks across the 
Gaza Strip on Sunday, alleging that Hamas targeted forces in the 
southern city of Rafah. However, the Palestinian group denied the 
claims, confirming it is abiding by the ceasefire agreement and is 
unaware of any fighting.

*What Happened?*

Israeli media reported that the Israeli military is carrying out attacks 
in Rafah and elsewhere in Gaza.

Israel’s public broadcaster claimed the strikes followed an “exchange of 
fire” with Hamas fighters. There were also reports about a detonation of 
an IED that caused damage and injured soldiers in Rafah.

The Israeli military admitted it has carried out air strikes in Rafah, 
claiming Hamas targeted its soldiers.

The military statement said Palestinian fighters fired antitank missiles 
and guns in the direction of its soldiers. The Israeli army then 
responded with air raids.

Netanyahu also released a statement saying the military action was taken 
after he consulted senior defence officials.

Hamas’s military wing, the Qassam Brigades, responded to the 
allegations, saying the group is adhering to the ceasefire agreement 
with Israel and was unaware of fighting in Rafah.

“We have no knowledge of any incidents or clashes taking place in the 
Rafah area, as these are red zones under the occupation’s control, and 
contact with the remaining groups of ours there has been cut off since 
the war resumed in March of this year,” the Qassam said in a statement.

*Israel Attacks Gaza*

Israeli forces have stepped up attacks across Gaza, killing several 
people and injuring others, in a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.

At least five civilians were killed and several others injured in an 
Israeli strike on a café west of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza on 
Sunday, according to local sources. The attack reportedly targeted an 
area among tents sheltering displaced families.

Two Palestinians were also killed and many wounded in an Israeli air 
raid in Jabalia, northern Gaza.

At least three others were killed in two Israeli airstrikes targeting a 
gathering of civilians in Nuseirat camp in central Gaza.

*What We Know*

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, Israel has violated the 
ceasefire 47 times since the truce came into effect, killing 38 
Palestinians and wounding another 143.

“These violations have included crimes of direct gunfire against 
civilians, deliberate shelling and targeting, and the arrest of a number 
of civilians, reflecting the occupation’s continued policy of aggression 
despite the declared end of the war,” said the Office on Saturday.

Under the US-brokered ceasefire deal, which came into force on October 
10, the Israeli forces are stipulated to “immediately end” the genocide 
in Gaza, which has killed more than 67,000 Palestinians in two years, 
including aerial and artillery bombardment and targeted attacks and 
allow the flow of aid.

Israel has also continued to seal Gaza’s Rafah crossing with Egypt 
despite repeated international calls to allow in large-scale aid deliveries.

For several days, the United Nations has warned that there has been 
little progress in aid deliveries into Gaza and that assistance must 
enter at scale through all border crossings to meet urgent humanitarian 
needs.

Last week, it announced it was intensifying its blockade of Gaza by 
allowing only half the number of aid trucks it promised to let in.

Hamas condemned Israel’s decisions and attacks, calling them “blatant 
breach of the ceasefire terms and a denial of Israel’s commitments to 
mediators and guarantor states.”

“War criminal Netanyahu is fabricating false excuses to obstruct the 
agreement and evade his obligations.”
