As Israeli military violations intensify and living conditions continue 
to deteriorate in the Gaza Strip, international agencies are warning of 
a potential collapse of the fragile ceasefire, citing Israel’s 
restrictions on humanitarian aid and the worsening plight of civilians.

UN agencies have accused Israel of obstructing relief efforts and 
blocking the entry of essential supplies for children and the sick, 
while new satellite imagery reveals widespread destruction in areas 
supposedly covered by the truce. Israeli officials, meanwhile, have 
hinted at preparations to resume combat operations.

For the second consecutive month, Gaza’s humanitarian crisis has 
worsened. Doctors Without Borders (MSF) confirmed that civilians are 
still being shot by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) daily — despite 
the “fragile ceasefire” — particularly near the so-called “yellow line.”

MSF emergency coordinator Caroline Seguin said that major hospitals 
remain located within areas controlled by the IOF, making access to 
medical care extremely difficult. She added that Israel continues to 
block the entry of essential medicines, shelter materials, and hygiene 
supplies.

Thousands of displaced families, she noted, are living in tents without 
access to clean water or electricity, as respiratory and skin diseases 
spread rapidly with winter approaching.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society also warned that 80 percent of 
Gaza’s water is now fully contaminated, leading to over 70,000 recorded 
cases of hepatitis since the start of the war.

A BBC analysis based on new satellite images showed that the IOF has 
destroyed more than 1,500 buildings since the ceasefire took effect in 
October 2025, mostly in eastern and northern Gaza, raising serious 
doubts about Israel’s commitment to the ceasefire.

On the ground, the IOF carried out a demolition operation east of Khan 
Yunis early Wednesday, followed by intense airstrikes from warplanes and 
drones. Fighter jets launched “fire belts” north of Beit Lahia inside 
the yellow zone, while Israeli naval vessels opened fire along Gaza’s 
coast, another clear breach of the ceasefire that began on October 10.

Despite tight restrictions on aid, Israel’s Walla news site reported 
that the Israeli authorities have approved the opening of the Zikim 
crossing north of Gaza for the first time since the ceasefire, allowing 
limited humanitarian trucks to pass, though UN agencies still face major 
operational obstacles.

The IOF continues to obstruct UNRWA’s work, denying entry to nearly 
6,000 aid trucks waiting at border crossings. Over the past two years of 
genocidal warfare, Israel has repeatedly tried to dismantle or restrict 
UNRWA through new laws in the Knesset.

UNICEF spokesperson Ricardo Pires said that about 1.6 million syringes 
and 938,000 bottles of infant formula remain held up since August, 
awaiting Israeli permits, endangering thousands of malnourished children.

Speaking from Geneva, Pires explained that Israel also blocks the 
delivery of solar-powered refrigerators needed for vaccine storage and 
spare parts for water trucks. “Israel classifies syringes and 
refrigerators as dual-use items,” he said, “making it extremely 
difficult to secure customs clearance, even though these items are 
life-saving.”

Meanwhile, the Gaza Health Ministry reported more than 6,000 amputation 
cases requiring urgent long-term rehabilitation, 25% of them children 
and 12.7% women, amid near-total collapse of the healthcare system.

In a separate development, a team from the International Committee of 
the Red Cross (ICRC), in coordination with Al-Qassam Brigades, is 
preparing to enter the yellow zone east of Gaza to search for the bodies 
of missing Israeli captives, marking the first such operation since the 
ceasefire began.

The escalation comes amid increasingly aggressive rhetoric from Israeli 
officials. Air Force commander Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar said his forces were 
ready to “resume combat operations at any moment” in coordination with 
the Southern Command, to fulfill the war’s political objectives.

Observers warn that continued field violations and deepening 
humanitarian collapse could lead to the total breakdown of the ceasefire 
unless international parties intervene swiftly to stabilize the 
situation and ensure aid reaches more than two million Palestinians 
living in what the UN has described as “unlivable conditions.”
