Israeli Supreme Court: International War Laws Do Not Apply to Gaza War

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- The Israeli Supreme Court ruled
that international laws of war do not apply to Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
The court also unanimously rejected a petition demanding the resumption of
humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave.

Some judges argued that between the period reviewed and March 2025, Israel
acted according to political directives and what they referred to as
“security considerations”. The court ruled that the Israeli government has
full authority to decide the type and amount of aid allowed into Gaza, a
rule that goes against basic human rights and international law.

Under international law, an occupying power must ensure humanitarian aid
reaches civilians. However, Israel has imposed a total siege on Gaza for
over a year and a half, depriving its population of food, water, and
medical supplies. This blockade has contributed to mass starvation and
catastrophic humanitarian conditions.

Last year, the International Criminal Court (ICC) charged Israeli officials
with using starvation as a weapon of war in Gaza. The charges were part of
broader investigations into war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Since October 2023, Israel’s military assault, backed by the U.S. and
Europe, has killed and injured over 164,000 Palestinians, mostly women and
children.

Despite global outcry, Israel continues to block critical aid deliveries,
escalating the suffering of millions trapped under relentless bombardment.
