Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem affirmed that the Gaza Strip is enduring an
ongoing extension of the genocide through the tightening of the blockade
and the prevention of real reconstruction efforts that could protect
residents from the severe weather conditions caused by the recent storm.

On Thursday, Qasem stated that Gaza is facing a true disaster amid the
storm, with all shelter centers flooded due to heavy rainfall. Tragically,
a child died due to the freezing temperatures.

He called on mediators and countries guaranteeing the ceasefire agreement
to apply real pressure on Israel to begin the reconstruction of Gaza.

Qasem also urged Arab and Islamic countries, the Arab League, and the
Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take serious and practical action to
save Gaza from the catastrophic situation it is facing due to destruction
and successive storms, stressing that this is a shared responsibility.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces, backed by the US and Europe, have
committed acts of genocide in Gaza for two years, including killings,
starvation, destruction, displacement, and mass arrests, while ignoring
international appeals and the International Court of Justice’s orders to
halt these crimes.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, the war of extermination has
resulted in over 241,000 Palestinians killed or injured, most of them women
and children, alongside over 11,000 missing, hundreds of thousands
displaced, and widespread famine that has claimed many lives, especially
children. Additionally, entire cities and areas of Gaza have been wiped off
the map.
