Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's approval of a plan to occupy
Gaza, following its own acceptance of the mediators' proposal,
confirms his insistence
on obstructing an agreement

the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, said in a statement on Sunday.
Hamas pointed out that it had agreed to a partial deal and had expressed
readiness for a comprehensive one, but asserted that Netanyahu is rejecting
all solutions

noting that Israeli and American admissions confirm he is the real obstacle
to exchange and ceasefire

agreements.
The movement also cited admissions by the former US State Department
spokesman as confirmation that Netanyahu had been employing delays and
deception
to thwart any agreement

.
Deal only way to retrieve captives
The movement further emphasized that a ceasefire agreement is the only way
to secure the release of the prisoners, holding Netanyahu fully responsible
for their fate and adding, "Twenty-two months of aggression

have proven the fallacy of the absolute victory that the war criminals
Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir, and Smotrich are chattering about."
Hamas concluded its statement by calling for sustained pressure, both from
officials and the public, to end the genocide and the use of starvation

against the Palestinian people.
Previously, on August 23, Mahmoud Mardawi, a liberated Palestinian prisoner
and senior Hamas political bureau member, stressed that the movement has
accepted the proposals mediated by Egypt and Qatar and backed by the United
States.
“A comprehensive agreement is entirely possible, but it is Netanyahu who is
preventing it

from happening. He wants to continue the war in order to achieve his
political goals inside the occupied territories,” Mardawi said at the time,
accusing Netanyahu of refusing to send a negotiation team and instead
resorting to deception and wasting time.
According to Mardawi, Hamas has no reservations about any plan that ensures
a cessation of Israeli aggression, includes a comprehensive prisoner
exchange, allows for the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid, and
facilitates the reconstruction of Gaza under Palestinian leadership.
