 Israel wiping out Gaza health sector to ‘kill as many as possible’

The last two functioning hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip are besieged
and under constant Israeli attacks

Dr. Khalil al-Daqran, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in the Gaza
Strip, warned on 27 October that Israel has rendered the health sector in
northern Gaza “inoperative,” with the aim of killing as many Palestinians
as possible.

"The occupation has rendered the health system in the north inoperative so
as to kill as many citizens as possible," Daqran said.

"There are approximately 1000 martyrs since the start of the occupation’s
siege on the northern sector. We do not know the fate of around 300 medical
personnel at Kamal Adwan Hospital, and we hold the occupation responsible
for their lives. We appeal to the world to intervene to save citizens in
the north of the Gaza Strip before it is too late," he added.

The Israeli army has continued to commit massacres against Palestinians in
northern Gaza, with no ambulances to help deal with casualties, after the
Civil Defense in the strip announced halting

the brutal Israeli siege and ethnic cleansing campaign, which is ongoing
there.

Israel bombed at least five inhabited homes in the northern city of Beit
Lahia on 26 October. More than 40 Palestinians were killed, among them many
women and children.

Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, one of the last functioning hospitals
in the north, has been raided and shelled, with dozens of patients, staff,
and displaced abducted by invading Israeli forces. The army stormed the
hospital

on 25 October after completely surrounding it the night before.

Hundreds of patients are at risk of death in Kamal Adwan Hospital. "If the
world does not intervene to stop this crime and the genocide in Gaza, the
certain fate of these patients is death," Marwan al-Homs, director of field
hospitals at the Palestinian Health Ministry, told *Al Jazeera* on 26
October.

"Israeli soldiers destroyed all drug inventories at the hospital yesterday,
claiming they were looking for militants. Now, all drug stocks have been
deliberately damaged to prevent doctors from saving the lives of the
wounded,” he added.

The Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza is also being blockaded

several times. The Indonesian Hospital and Kamal Adwan are the last two
functioning hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip.

At least 1,000 people have been killed and hundreds of others displaced as
part of Israel’s so-called Generals' Plan, which aims to exterminate or
expel the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who remain in north Gaza
and turn the area into an isolated military zone.

Many have refused to leave the north out of fear that the military will not
let them return if they cross the Netzarim Corridor to go south.
