[News] Samidoun designated as terrorist entity, sanctioned by Canada and the US

Hello, all.

Today, the Government of Canada and the U.S. Treasury Department 
designated *Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network* a "sham 
charity" and /terrorist entity /under Canada's Criminal Code. Sanctions 
implications are as follows:

/"All property and interests in property of the designated persons 
described above, and of any entities that are owned directly or 
indirectly, 50 percent or more by them, individually, or with other 
blocked persons, that are in the United States or in the possession or 
control of U.S. persons, are blocked and must be reported to OFAC [the 
U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control].

...OFAC’s regulations generally prohibit all transactions by U.S. 
persons or within (or transiting) the United States that involve any 
property or interests in property of designated or otherwise blocked 
persons."/

As many of you know, *Samidoun* is a leading organization at the 
forefront of Palestine solidarity organizing in North America and 
Europe, as well as a BAP Solidarity Network member organization. Since 
October 2023, their principled and unyielding support for Palestinian 
and regional resistance forces has attracted significant opposition and 
repression by those facilitating the ongoing genocide in Gaza, including 
being banned by Germany in November 2023.

I will soon be meeting with BAP's Executive Committee to discuss our 
response to this development, and will relay updates as they arise.
