GAZA, (PIC)

United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said
on Friday its aid convoy came under fire by the Israeli army in the Gaza
Strip.

“Israeli soldiers fired at an aid convoy as it returned from northern Gaza
along a route designated by the Israeli army,” UNRWA’s director in Gaza,
Tom White, wrote on X.

“Our international convoy leader and his team were not injured but one
vehicle sustained damage,” he added, stressing that “aid workers should
never be a target.”

The Director of UNRWA Operations in Gaza stressed that the people of Gaza
are struggling every day to survive and find food and water.

He warned of a potential catastrophic starvation in Gaza as 40% of the
population is now on the brink of famine, pointing out that Gaza is in dire
need of more aid and the only hope left is a humanitarian ceasefire.

UNRWA had previously announced the martyrdom of dozens of its employees in
the Gaza Strip, since the start of the brutal Israeli aggression on the
besieged enclave on October 7.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, said earlier
that the number of the employees of the international organization who were
killed in the Israeli aggression on Gaza is unprecedented in the history of
the United Nations.

For 84 days in a row, Israeli army has been waging a brutal aggression on
Gaza, resulting in heinous massacres against civilians, mostly women and
children.

The Palestinian death toll since 7 October rose to more than 21,300, mostly
women and children, with more than 55,000 wounded, according to Palestinian
sources.
