/ "It made me think about paying more attention to the 'small cases'
that may be so wrong but not publicized as broadly." /

The Rosenberg Fund for Children <http://www.rfc.org> and the Middle East
Children's Alliance <http://www.mecaforpeace.org>, with co-sponsorship
from The Freedom Archives <http://www.freedomarchives.org/> and KPFA
<http://www.kpfa.org/>, are teaming up at *Berkeley City College
Auditorium at 7:00 pm on May 14th for the west coast premiere of /CARRY
IT FORWARD: Celebrate the Children of Resistance./*
(www.rfc.org/CIFberkeley <http://www.rfc.org/CIFberkeley>). This
90-minute film stars activist legend Angela Davis as the narrator, Eve
Ensler (/The Vagina Monologues/ and /Emotional Creature/) portraying
Ethel Rosenberg, and Cotter Smith as Julius Rosenberg. It uses dramatic
readings, acted vignettes, poetry, music, and historical photos, to
dramatize the last four days of the Rosenbergs' lives through their
prison letters and their sons' firsthand accounts.

/CARRY IT FORWARD/ also tells the stories of present-day activist
families the Rosenberg Fund for Children assists (including the family
of Russell Maroon Shoatz), and celebrates current movements for peace,
environmental justice, immigrants' rights, civil liberties and other
progressive struggles from Idle No More and Stop, Stop and Frisk, to the
fight to free all political prisoners. Poet Martín Espada
<http://www.martinespada.net>, folk duo Mike + Ruthy
<http://www.mikeandruthy.com>, radical hip hop group Rebel Diaz
<http://www.rebeldiaz.com>, international human rights attorney Lennox
Hinds, filmmaker Shola Lynch, and other artists and activists round out
the multi-generational cast.

MECA founder and executive director Barbara Lubin will open the event
with brief remarks about their work aiding children and families in
Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon. Jenn Meeropol, the Rosenbergs'
granddaughter and executive director of the Rosenberg Fund for Children,
will take questions following the screening. Proceeds benefit both the
RFC and MECA and additional donations will be welcome at the event.
