[News] KPFA's Africa Today Needs Your Voice

Your voice is now needed and we want you to take a minute to *"Save 
KPFA's Africa Today Program"* by making a call and/or sending an email 
to KPFA management:

In the past couple of weeks, a number of organizations and individuals 
have made the call to urge KPFA NOT to make any programming changes that 
would *potentially eliminate Africa Today with host Walter Turner 
<http://priorityafrica.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=67552b084ab1177fd62631b5a&id=58bf2038ba&e=928bcaab14>*.  
Despite repeated calls, email and request for meeting, KPFA management 
has remained silent and unresponsive.

This proposed change of schedule from a Monday evening slot to a weekday 
afternoon would make it impossible for long time host Walter Turner to 
continue. It would make it very unlikely that live interviews could take 
place which are essential and attractive components of  the Africa 
Today.  Furthermore, *Africa Today on Monday evenings is followed by 
Traditions on Tradition hosted by Greg Bridges*, two programs that have 
long had a symbiotic relationship as *African/African Diaspora* 
political and cultural focus with a loyal listenership committed to the 
issues.  The hosts are essential to the programs and it would be a great 
loss to the community if they cannot continue because of schedule changes.

*We believe in the power of communities to speak out for change and ask 
you to let KPFA know that you value Africa Today* and appreciate the 
two-decades of volunteer time and energy Walter Turner has invested as 
host.  Make the call now, or send the email, and don't forget to send us 
a copy.

You may be a single individual but *collectively, we have tremendous 
leverage *to raise our voices; that is how all struggles are won -- 
through sheer collective power ! We count on your voices, make the call 
and send the email now.
