Hundreds of Palestinian activists from various West Bank villages and
cities succeeded on Friday, in reaching the village of Ein Hajleh in the
Jordan Valley which is located two kilometers away from the Jordanian
borders.
Dr. Mustafa al-Barghouthi, Secretary General of the Palestinian National
Initiative, told PNN that upon arrival, youths started chanting national
songs, adding that the village was surrounded by Israeli forces who
threatened to break into the village if not evacuated immediately.
Al-Bargouthi said that the activists didn't erect tents, but they
re-opened the old and abandoned homes in the village. It's worth
mentioning that this village has been closed and uninhabited for 47 years.
Al-Barghouthi added that the activists succeeded to reach the village
despite dozens of Israeli checkpoints that were set in the area.
Al-Barghouthi confirmed that the message from reopening and reviving
this village and the other two villages of Bab As-Shams and Ahfad
Younis, is to reinforce the popular resistance and the Boycott,
Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement against Israel.
