Pierre Labossiere and Robert Roth, co-founders of Haiti Action
Committee, were eyewitness to the joyful return of President Aristide
and his family to Haiti. Come hear their account of the President's
arrival and the response of the Haitian people, as well as the
background to this remarkable event.
Rea Dol is a courageous woman and Haitian educator who has devoted
her life to empowering the poorest communities in Haiti. She is the
founder and director of <http://www.sopudep.org/>SOPUDEP school which
serves the poorest residents of Port-au-Prince. Rea is also a
community organizer and a grassroots leader who coordinates a
federation of grassroots women's organizations fighting for survival
in Haiti's harsh economy.
The program will include updates on the fraudulent elections imposed
on Haiti, the "selection" of right-wing Duvalierest Martelly by the
smallest electoral turn-out in the americas in 60 years, and what's
ahead for the solidarity movement.
In the wake of sham elections and an ongoing 7-year military
occupation, Haiti's grassroots movement for democracy is vital and
alive and an essential part of movements around the world fighting
for dignity and freedom. Let us continue to stand in solidarity!
