“In the Sky’s Wild Noise”
A documentary film about legendary Guyanese
Pan-Afrikan Revolutionary, Walter Rodney.

This film showing is a commemoration of the 25th
anniversary of the untimely death of Rodney. Walter
Rodney was assassinated in Guyana on June 13, 1980 to
stop his organizing efforts within the Afrikan and
(East) Indian working class in Guyana to liberate
itself. Rodney was a preeminent revolutionary
intellectual and Pan-Afrikanist organizer. He is the
author of the essential “How Europe Underdeveloped
Africa”, and “The Groundings with My Brothers”. Rodney
had a profound impact on the Wailers and other Rasta’s
when he taught in Jamaica in the late 1960’s, was one
of the critical organizers of the 6th Pan-African
Congress in Tanzania in 1974, and a leader of the
Working Peoples Alliance in Guyana.

Guest Speakers:
Eusi Kwayana, now 80 was active in politics, education
and culture of Guyana for over fifty years. He worked
with Caribbean and African-American activists,
including Dr. James Garrett, in many Pan African
campaigns, and with Dr. Walter Rodney in the Working
People's Alliance Guyana. He is married with another
life-long teacher, Tchaiko, of Georgia and they have
four offspring.

Dr. James Garrett has been a leading activist in
struggles for global justice and African liberation
for more than 40 years. He is one of the founders of
Black Studies and Independent Black Education
movements. Dr. Garrett worked with Walter Rodney on
education projects in Tanzania and Washington, DC. He
also joined with Brother Rodney, CLR James, Eusi
Kwayana and Queen Mother Moore in organizing the Sixth
Pan African Congress held in Tanzania in 1975. Dr.
Garrett presently works with community schools in the
Bay Area in California.

Pierre LaBossiere is leader and founder of the Haiti
Action Committee. Pierre has been struggling for the
self-determination and freedom of his Haitian homeland
for several decades. Pierre is also a committed
Pan-Africanist, he recently attended the official
commemorative activities for Comrade Rodney in Guyana
in June.
